Deconstruct and Create HAUTEness

The Winter Collection is finally here and just in time for the Holiday Season.  Created from older and vintage jewelry pieces, the idea behind this collection was to take an older jewelry piece and deconstruct it, turning it into something new.  Just think, how many of us have an old and/or odd jewelry piece that we don’t wear anymore that is just stashed away in our jewelry box.  Why not  “recycle” it into something HAUTE.  That’s exactly what I did.  Check out a couple of the new designs:

Shop Indie Entrepreneurs this Holiday Season

As the holiday season approaches and we begin to make our lists and start checking them twice (not because Santa Claus is coming to town because most of us are on a budget this season) take a look at some Indie Crafters.  Trust me, you will not be disappointed.  There are truly some creative Indies out there with “out of this world” items.  Check out Etsy, Artfire, WinkElf, just name of few.  If that’s not convincing enough, here are a few good reasons to Shop Handmade this Holiday.

1.      Support CraftPreneurs- Believe it or not they are part of the economy.  As a matter of fact small businesses make up a great percentage of the economy.  Not only will you be supporting a fellow entrepreneur, it’ll help put money back into our local and domestic economies.

2.      Personable and Unique Items- It’s true!  A lot of these items you’ll see on these Indie Market sites are the most unique and personable ever.  Indie crafters put much time and hard-work into their product, very seldom will you be dissatisfied.  The items aren’t mass produce, so you definitely won’t see them on the racks or shelves of large retail giants.

3.      Avoid shopping mall crowd-This is what everyone hates about the holidays, waiting for someone to pull out of a parking spot, dealing with packed malls and long lines.

If these reasons aren’t good enough, well just scope out some of the great holiday gift items I found from some Indie Preneurs.

Spring is almost here!  These are some of the picks that I’m going to love this spring.  As a matter of fact I’m going to start counting down the days because this cold weather has to bye-bye!!

I’ve been up to…

I’ve made it my duty to conquer some goals for this month, one of them is re-launching The Pink Locket website, with a new look and feel. In my last blog post I talked about self discipline, well this month was definitely a test in that area. Having so many ideas and not enough time or resources to bring them to fruition can be discouraging. However, over the next few months you’ll begin to see some new changes with The Pink Locket.  Stay tuned to see the great new look!

Haiti Still Needs Your Help

HELP |  GIVING |  CARING

Several weeks have passed since the earthquake in Haiti.  I remember my mother called me to ask if I heard the news that day.  I had just came home from work and was outside walking my dog and rushed back inside to turn onto CNN. Words cannot describe the sadness and disbelief that ran through my head.  Watching the rubble, shattered buildings, and people in the streets was enough to bring tears to my eyes.  I could only ask myself “why?”

For the past few weeks I’ve been trying to figure out a way to do my part to help the people of Haiti.  Being from the Caribbean myself, I felt a strong sense of responsibility.  I donated to Yele and even bought supplies and gave to a church which sent supplies to the country.  I still felt that it wasn’t enough.  That’s when I decided to use my talent to help even more.  For the month of February, The Pink Locket, will be donating 50% of all its sales to Yele’s Haiti Earthquake Fund.  Any item purchased during this month on The Pink Locket’s Etsy Shop site, 50% of the sales from jewelry will be donated.  Help The Pink Locket reach it’s goal of $200 in donation.
