Cream Over Green -$30
My Etsy store of the week is long over due–I know. I can literally spend hours scouring through Etsy stores, there are just some really really really talented Etsians out there. I can definitely say that this will be my number stop for holiday shopping this year. As I was going through the site deciding which store to feature this week, I came across a retro bathroom organizer that I thought was the neatest thing. Perfect for my bath robe and as a matter of fact it would go great in my office nook/studio. This week’s Etsy Store of the Week is Old New Again .

Yep it looks like the fashion diva himself will have a new show on QVC. Looks like the station has had a dip in sales (but then again who hasn’t), so they tapped Isaac Mizrahi to help boost their sales. If you’ve seen The Fashion Show, you know that Isaac is without a doubt entertaining. Lets see how it works on QVC.

I know we are still trying to relish the nice weather that we have left, however, I was browsing on one of my favorite sites, Urban Outfitters and came across the perfect handbag for the fall-for me that is. I ‘ve never owned a pastel green handbag, but there’s always a first time for everything. To top it off it’s also a great price, only $68.

After rummaging through a jewelry box from a childhood friend of mine I struck “GOLD,” literally! She had so many lost pieces of jewelry that my creative juices started flowing as I picked out all the odd pieces one by one. Promising to her a special custom piece of jewelry, I tasked myself with the ultimate jewelry challenge of the month. Oh and by the way I actually organized all of her jewelry while another one of my childhood friends shook her head in disbelief. Stay tuned until next month and I’ll reveal what I concocted from all of these pieces. Who knows my next adventure might lead me to your very own jewelry box

Not letting this recession put a damper on my summer fun, a few weekends ago the hubby and I decided to take a trip out to the water park. I’ve always loved water as child for as long as I can remember. It was one of the reasons I looked forward to summer time, just the thrill and excitement of spending endless hours in a pool or at the beach or even a water park.
There is one thing about the summer that I love—water slides. I put on my wonderful two piece bikini (I don’t think I own a one piece) and climbed the wooden steps to this towering tube waterslide. Filled with the same thrill and excitement I felt as a youngster, I took off down the gigantic water of fun. As I came splashing into the pool at the end of the slide, my bikini top came slithering off. Luckily, since I am and avid swimmer I was able to duck under water and re- affix the strings and come up above water without flashing the 150 people in the surrounding area. With all that I think it’s time for me to invest in a cute one pieces swimsuit. Here are some of my picks.

With all the sad news about MJ, one of my childhood icons, I totally bypassed the opportunity share the greatness of my trip to New Orleans. Of course, when I got there my friends and I were bummed about the passing of the great Michael Jackson.

With all of that we decided to hit Bourbon Street and get feel for this culture rich city. Besides for the drunken people roaming the middle of the French Quarters and running into some random bartender who swore up and down she knew me since high school—it was a great venture. I tried beijnets for the first time at Cafe au Monde and they were soooooo delicious.

The French Quarters were filled with so many cute clothing and jewelry boutiques. As we strolled along the quarters it actually reminded me a lot of Paris. Lunch at Muriels was unexplainable—rich and succulent food to die for. My Seafood Gratin was more than just “yummo,” as a friend of mine would say. Lets not even talk about the crawfish—talk about the real Nawlins experience.

We even got a chance to see the other side of Louisiana by taking a trip across the longest bridge ever—the Causeway. It was the most beautiful ride across a bridge, seemed so serene and peaceful.

The trip seemed so short, so my friends and I agreed that the next trip may need to be extended 2 extra days

As various stories unravel about the death of the King of Pop, it looks like some of the superstar’s most prized possessions are going to be auctioned off. As I flipped through the various pictures of the soon to be auctioned merchandise, I did get a bit upset. Why did I get upset you ask? Well, first off if I were a sibling or child of the great MJ I think I would want to keep certain items as a memory. For instance, his “ICON” silver glove would be a must keep for me. The estimated value of the “red” sparkle glove is $1,000 – $1,500, while the ultimate “silver” glove is valued between $10,000-$15,000. Hmmm I wonder how much it will actually sell for?

The world knows him as the King of Pop, but I also saw him as a Prince of Style. Over the years the great MJ has wowed us with various looks and styles. With many notable styles, there are quite a few that stand out. I remember always waiting with anticipation of each of his albums just to see what MJ was wearing on the cover. I’ve seen a lot of great stars pass away during my “near 3 decades,” but I have to say that I will definitely miss Michael Jackson. Here are my favorite MJ style moments. As always I hope you enjoy them!
